| AD8P | Lots of fun in spite of the daytime band conditions
| K8AJS | The G5RV antenna that worked so well in Radiosport wasn't the right choice for Ohio QSO Party. I thought it would have more high-angle radiation than it evidently did, but working the Ohio mobiles on 20 and 40 meters was very difficult. Worked lots of stations in the deep South, Plains and West Coast, though...hi. My Ohio county total wasn't good, worse than last year, I believe. I had a great time, the rates were much better here after the sun went down, and 80 meters was the band with the best. My total on 80 meters was done in much fewer hours than the time I spent all day on 40. Next year I'll make sure I have some dipoles close to the ground, so I have better luck with the Ohio mobiles. |
| K8IJ | I had a great time operating portable from my sister-in-law house in Ohio. 20M was terrible, 40M was great. Many thanks to all. Vy 73, Charlie
| K8RT | YL/XYL Contest Party. Club effort.
| KB8UUZ | Lots of fun! Started slow, but
got better. Looking forward to next year! |
| KJ9C/M | Tough to hear the OH stations. Also tough to make this look like Cabrillo. 213 CW/45 SSB=471 QSO POINTS, 19 counties, 44 S/P, some DX as well.
| KV0T | My first time, what great
fun! |
| N8UW | 1ST QSO PARTY TS570D 100W -> G5RV @ 30' CASUAL WITH A COUPLE BREAKS - LOTS OF FUN, THANKS
| N8VZ | This is my contribution to the Athens County ARA club score -- N8VZ
| W8AL | A portable station was set up at
the club yearly picnic, using an IC-706 with a Carolina Windom antenna. Fun
was had by all ! |
| W8EX | When my host, N8NR, went to have dinner with K9NW host, N8BJQ, K9NW and I should have swapped stations.
Conditions not so good for short skip or DX, but were outstanding to Pennsylvania! |
| W8ID | Had a great time even with low score! Is there an award for low score??? Hope so, I have a wall all picked out for it! Got a kick out of people coming out of the woodwork to get Seneca County at the last minute! K8ARL
| W8KEN | Very poor band conditions!
| W8KNO | By what I heard, the signals were there but my antenna was not high enough. Hope to hav a new computer by next year. Lost my laptop and tower due to a power surge.
| W8TK | One could rack up a nice score working only K8MR/M!
| W8WE | YL/XYL Contest Party. A good time was had by all.
| AD6WL | Conditions were not so great but the operators were. Thanks to the Mad River Radio Club. It was nice to hear KW8N put Erie on the air the last couple of hours of the contest.
| HA1AG | Condx was vy bad, congrats to W8CAR for the great mobile operation!
| K0HW | Tnx for the contest, wish I could have spent more time on it. See you all next year.
| K0LWV | Good contest - low noise here, had fun.
| K2PS | Hadn't intended to operate this contest, but TOEC was a flop (no prop to EU this AM), and I happened to tune across some OQP activity, so I figured why not? Turned out to be a lot of fun! Nice number of mobiles, K8MR, AF8A, W8CAR, KU8E, K8RYU, KJ9C, W8UE, WB6JBM/8, and AA8HH (hope I didn't forget anyone). They did a fabulous job - worked 80 of the 88 OH counties, missing CLIN (couldn't raise KU8E right at the end of the test), MADI, MARI, MERC, MORR, PREB, SCIO, WARR. And 20, 15, and 10 were nearly non-existent for the NJ to OH path. uortunately most of the activity was on 40 and later 80.
| K3MD/3 | Made around 8 contacts driving around town doing errands /m cw I did not log. All the best. John K3MD
| K4UK | Decided to run my K2 this year QRO at 13 watts, CW only. Enjoyed working all the mobile stations. Wasn't able to operate the whole period as my wife had accepted a dinner invitation for the evening.
| K4XU | conditions were not so good. Glad to give out OR.
| K5OT | Great fun following the mobiles!
| K6DGW | QUITE A FEW OH STNS ON. MOST WERE WEAK BUT TOTALLY WORKABLE, A FEW WERE REALLY STRONG (K8O) BUT IT WAS A FUN AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SPENT QUITE A BIT OF TIME WHILE EMPLOYED IN COLUMBUS AND DAYTON AND MADE IT TO AES IN CLEVELAND WHEN I JUST TRULLY NEEDED
TO GET AWAY FOR AWHILE. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OHIO! HOPE TO CU IN THE CQP IN EARLY OCT ... I'LL BE AT N6A FOR ALPINE COUNTY. |
| K9DXR | Fair condx, only running 100wts into a ground mounted vert.
| KD5MDO | Very small log, but perhaps I will qualify for out of state YL
| KE9V | Woke up this morning with a toothache. It never got better. All I could manage was about an hour on the
air. The K2 at 5 watts and the dipole performed much better than I did. |
| KF4ZEO | had fun
| KG4NWS | I really enjoyed this contest! It was my first time to work the Ohio QSO Party and though I didn't find a lot of people in Ohio on SSB those that were on were all friendly and seemed to be having fun. See y'all next year.
| KG4RZH | great fun on my Hallicrafters SR-160.
| N2CU | Ohio... too close for high bands :(
| N4NTO | Enjoyed the party!
| N4PN | Nice QSO Party. Nice to hear my old buddy Jim, K8MR in many counties. Thanks to all of the mobiles who really make the contest fun.
| N9JF | Missed Clinton, Madison and Morrow for a "sweep". Nice job by the OH stations!
| NC6P | Nice contest, hope to work you in October
| ND2T | A low-rate, relaxed few hours. The California to Ohio path was solidly open on 15M, but few 8s seemed to notice. Many thanks the fleet of mobiles, especially K8MR, KJ9C, KU8E, and W8CAR. See you in the California QSO Party 4-5 October.
| NN5A | I'll be back next year!
| NO5W | Great party and outstanding job by the mobiles that were out and about including K8MR, KU8E, AF8A, and the apptly named W8CAR. The mobiles really make these parties interesting and the 2003 OQP was no exception. Hope to see everyone in the TX QP in late September. 73, Chuck, NO5W
| NU8Z | Conditions into Ohio were very poor from south Michigan. It did improve on 40 in the early evening and on 80 late in the contest. Had fun!! I will be back next year.
| VA3IX | Did you ever have so much fun, under terrible condx?
| W3BBO | Thanks to all the mobiles who make the State QSOP interesting!
| W4ARM | Sure hope some consideration is given to adding operating time on Sundays!!
| W4GFQ | Tks for the great causal contesting.
| W6RLL | Lots of activity this year. Thanks to all who worked me.
| W9RE | Good activity wish I had more time!
| WA5SWN | I've hesitated about sending in my log - not many contacts, low score - but maybe you guys need to know that somebody in Kansas tried. My operating time was severely limited by thunderstorms, but I had fun anyway.
| WA5TRX | I had fun working the OHIO QSO Party. Found quite a few stations early in the contest. Bad conditions
could have better. Found nothing on 15 & 10 meters. See you next year. |
| W5AC | Big thanks to all the mobile guys..the 9 (mobile) stations accounted for 1/3 of the QSOs that I made! And without them I wouldn't have 39 of my mults. Thank you guys! 100 other Ohio Stations were worked, of which 9 came back to my CQ and didn't have a
clue that their state QSO party was going on. 73, Dennis/NT5TU |
| W1NN | I had plans to be mobile again in Ohio but things just didn't work out so decided to see what I could do from out of state. 40 Meters was very good from EPA during the day but as the evening wore on, skip lengthened out and I could hear very few OH stations. My last 40 Meter mobile contact was at 0214. I did what I could on 80 but my low antenna just doesn't hack it on this band.
| VE7FO | Well, the giant VE7 Multi-Multi station bombasts the airwaves again with one MkV running full out at 200W. Conditions to W8 were better than I expected so it never got really boring. Brenda (VA7CCF) would work 20 phone dry, I would do the same for cw and then it was her turn again. She left around 1900Z and I put a little more time in with a couple of breaks. I moved to 40 cw around 0010 and, while there were plenty of signals, no one could hear me. Once I switched from the 80 dipole to the 40 things got better. Heard some signals on 80 but they couldn't hear me.
